Christmas Crafts for Kids
Christmas is one of those holidays that
starts before it actually begins, and you celebrate it throughout
December. Part of celebrating Christmas is getting together with family
and friends and decorating your home with Christmas
decorations and your tree with Christmas ornaments. Here are two
lovely Christmas ornaments that are sure to please the kids and entertain
the entire family.
Sequin Christmas Ornament
The sequin Christmas ornament is a very stylish looking adornment. When
completed, the sequin ornament will reflect all nearby light and, thus,
gives off a glimmer similar to a disco ball.
Materials Needed:
- Approximately 200-300 small sequin pins
- Various sizes of Styrofoam balls
- Small beads
- Sequin
- Ribbon
- Scissors
Instructions:
You will want to start by inserting a small bead onto a sequin pin. The
bead should rest comfortably at the flat or rounded tip of the pin.
Afterwards, you will want to insert a sequin onto the same sequin pin. The
pin should then have a small bead and a sequin right underneath it. Once
completed, you will insert the pin onto the Styrofoam ball. Make sure that
the pin is fitted firmly into the Styrofoam. Repeat this process until the
entire Styrofoam ball is covered with these completed pins. Furthermore,
you can use different color sequin and beads to create distinct patterns
on the ornament. When you finally reach the final pin, take a piece of
ribbon and create a loop that is approximately 2-4 inches in diameter.
Place the pin at the intersection of the ribbon and then place it on the
Styrofoam ball. This ribbon loop will act as the hanger for the ornament
so that you can hang it up on your tree.
Tiny Gift Box Ornaments
These tiny gift box ornaments are a real pleasure to have hanging on your
tree. They are simply adorable and look like tiny presents left by Santa
Clause.
Materials Needed:
- Wrapping paper
- Small raisin boxes
- Ribbon
- Scissors
- Tape
- Ornament hooks (optional)
Instructions:
You want to begin by cutting out a small square of wrapping paper
approximately 3x3 inches. Afterwards, place the raisin box on the wrapping
paper and wrap the raisin box like you would a regular gift box, at a much
smaller scale. Once the raisin box is wrapped, cut a piece of ribbon
approximately 3-5 inches in length and wrap it around the box. Make sure
that when you tie the ribbon you leave enough space to use a portion of
the ribbons loop to hang it on your tree. However, if you prefer, you can
use an ornament hook and insert one end under a portion of the ribbon and
then hang it on your tree from there.
